The 2009 vintage was another classic in Margaret River. The season began very cool and wet until January bought the lovely warm and dry conditions with no heat spikes – all perfect for ripening our fruit. The whites have lovely natural acidity and intense aromatics producing world class SBS, chardonnay, chenin and marsanne. We believe the red vintage could be one of the best ever – the wines have intense varietal flavours, wonderful colours, lifted aromas and lovely round tannins. Churchview has released our 2009 whites – Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay and Sweet Riesling. All of these wines have intense aromatics with crisp mouth filling flavours. Our 2007 reds have also been released, and are making their way into wine stores and lists around Australia. These reds are rich, intense and flavoursome – classic wines from a classic vintage. We still have a small quantity of 2006 reds left at cellar door – but get in quick as they are almost sold out. Troy and Arie have been braving the elements of our southerly winds this winter to hand prune 65 hectares of vines. This equates to almost 150,000 vines – each requiring up to 20 cuts each – a very big job. The continual rain has filled our dams up, so we are all ready for Spring and the new growth of the 2010 vintage. Churchview Estate welcomes Tom Simmons on board as our NSW sales professional. Tom represents several premium wine producers in the NSW market, and we are excited to have him represent Churchview. Tom has been busy working in the Sydney market, and has had some success. We have received a Gold medal for our 2007 Shiraz, Silver Medals for our 2009 SBS, 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Cabernet Merlot, 2008 Bartondale Marsanne, 2007 Bartondale Cabernet Sauvignon, 2007 Bartondale Shiraz, and Bronze for our 2009 Unwooded Chardonnay and 2009 Sweet Riesling. This means every wine has a medal, and the show season is only half way through! Cellar door has very limited quantities of the 2006 Shiraz, 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2006 Cabernet Merlot available - 25 cases of each left. Be quick to secure the last chance to purchase these elegant wines from the very cool 2006 vintage. The wines are $18.50 by the bottle, or a special delivered price of $199 to your door - but be quick. |
